ITF supports striking Jetstar workers

December 20, 2019

ITF and its affiliate unions stand in solidarity with workers striking at the Australian low-cost airline Jetstar.

Workers organising with the Transport Workers Union (TWU) and Australian Federation of Air Pilots (AFAP) began industrial action last weekend, demanding fair pay and adequate rest time to ensure the safety of passengers.

Jetstar is a subsidiary of Qantas Group. Having agreed to a pay freeze to help the companies through a challenging economic period, workers are being refused a fair increase despite the fact that profits have returned to normal.

ITF’s other civil aviation affiliates worldwide will be sending messages of solidarity to the striking workers. Supporters can also sign the petition created by TWU at https://actionnetwork.org/forms/i-support-jetstar-workers-taking-action.
