ver.di and easyJet obtain results in negotiations (PRESS RELEASE)

July 22, 2011

After a months-long dispute over pay and conditions, renewed talks brought forward an agreement between Vereinte Dienstleistungsgewerkschaft (ver.di) and easyJet.

The outcome of the negotiations includes a pay increase as well as other aspects regarding part-time work, pensions or holiday entitlement.

“The result represents a positive compromise and forms a good basis for future industrial relations,” Holger Rößler, ver.di’s chief negotiator, explained.

Thomas Haagensen, executive director of easyJet Germany said: “easyJet welcomes the agreement with ver.di. We value our employees and want them to have their share in easyJet’s success. We are very pleased to have been able to put forward a new and sound offer that is acceptable for all parties concerned. This agreement resolves all possible uncertainties for our passengers. For easyJet, Berlin is an important business location with potential for growth.”

In order to finally settle the dispute, ver.di has to organize a second ballot for its members to decide on the agreement. “Our bargaining committee for pilots and cabin crew will recommend the acceptance of easyJet’s offer. I’m very hopeful that our members will back the outcome of the negotiations,” Rößler concluded.

Around 350 pilots and cabin crew members are employed by easyJet in Berlin-Schönefeld.
