Trolley dolly folly: Many airlines shamelessly exploit female sexuality

The Economist, explains how many airlines have reverted to backward practices that objectify women cabin crew.

Unions have long fought, so that airlines, travellers and the general public value the major health and safety role that cabin crew workers play and this article sites practices that are alarming on grounds of worker rights and could pose a danger by devaluing the female aviation workforce.

Among the examples sited in the article, is the ‘bikini competition held in Qingdao, China, every January and provides a platform for fast tracking some of the participants to a flight attendant trainee scheme.  Furthermore women are discriminated against by limiting their working lives in some cases to below 30 years.
