Transport union puts its case on Qantas (The Sydney Morning Herald-Australia)

Qantas employees have a pretty good idea of what “the Spirit of Australia” means. Many of them have worked in support of it for a long time. It’s the “New Spirit of Australia” that has them and many others worried.

Tomorrow’s Annual General Meeting will see Qantas outline how great management has been in securing a $530 million profit, but argue that providing job security to Qantas staff who have delivered a profit every year since privatisation – and through the GFC – is unjustified. They will do this while promoting their ballooning salaries and ignoring “Mum and Dad” investors that haven’t been paid a dividend for over two years
