Qantas wins dispute over pilot pay

Qantas won a significant dispute Tuesday after industrial arbitrator Fair Work Australia (FWA) dismissed a pilot’s claim over pay.

The Australian and International Pilots’ Assn. (AIPA) asked for Qantas’ New Zealand-based subsidiary Jetconnect to be subject to Australian industrial laws and agreements. Instead, FWA ruled that Qantas pilots employed by Jetconnect were subject to New Zealand industrial laws and agreements.
