Pilot Strike Produces Result In Garuda

The Handy Shipping Guide has reported that Garuda bowed to pressure yesterday morning and agreed to go back to the negotiating table after a strike by its pilots over a long running dispute relating to pay and conditions. 

The problems at Garuda however are not limited to pilot discontent according to union sources.  IKAGI president Zainudin Malik expressed concern over the worsening industrial relations and working conditions.  He said that the strike by the APG pilots’ union illustrated the kinds of problems workers were experiencing with the policies laid down by the management.
