Lufthansa fends off strikes by reaching pay deal (FT.com)

Lufthansa said it had reached agreement on a pay deal with the union representing 33,000 of its staff, averting further industrial action after a series of debilitating strikes grounded flights at Europe’s largest airline by revenues.
The German airline said staff would get wage increases of between 3 and 5.2 per cent, to be paid in two stages this year and next year. The agreement runs until March 2015.
