ITF at the centre of global aviation summit

September 25, 2019

An ITF delegation is at the 40th assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) – making sure that aviation workers influence the highest rule-making body in the global airline industry.

The ITF group includes nearly 20 activists from 14 countries representing workers across the aviation section, from cabin crew to ground crew to pilots.

The ICAO assembly brings together all 193 member states to set worldwide policies for the next three years of global aviation.

ITF civil aviation section secretary Gabriel Mocho Rodriguez is part of the delegation: ““The ITF’s presence at the ICAO assembly should not be underestimated. We have proposals being considered here that will improve conditions for aviation workers, and when needed we are working with other international organisations to get results for workers.

“For example, we are working with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the International Air Traffic Controllers Association (IFATCA) and the International Federation of Airline Pilots Associations (IFALPA) amongst others to lobby governments directly on behalf of workers. We can only do all this because we are here, in the room, at the world’s number aviation meeting.”

The assembly runs from 24 September to 4 October 2019. You can follow updates from the ITF delegation on the ITF civil aviation Twitter and Facebook accounts.
