ITF affiliates aim for better jobs in the civil aviation sector

March 1, 2019

This week, ITF civil aviation affiliates from around the world met to coordinate their work for the coming years.

Affiliates met for the first time since the ITF Congress in Singapore last October, under the chairmanship of Joseph Tiberi from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW). The need for environmentally responsible transport jobs was a key issue under discussion, alongside the ongoing campaigns to clean up labour standards at Qatar Airways and Ryanair and ITF’s flagship airports organising project.

A day was also dedicated to issues affecting ground crew, including outsourcing, deregulation, fatigue and working hours. The unions also committed to ensuring this traditionally male-dominated workplace becomes more gender-inclusive.

ITF and its affiliates are working closely together to make aviation a sector for good jobs once again.
