Finnair hiring more foreign cabin crews (yle.fi/uutiset)

Finnair is lowering operating costs by laying off Finnish employees and contracting more staff from abroad. The company says that employing American cabin crew members on its New York route as of March will create sizable savings. Already one-fifth of Finnair’s cabin personnel have been contracted from abroad.

Over the past five years, Finnair has been in the black only once, and the easiest way to save on operating costs is to put Finnish crews out to pasture and replace them with lower-paid foreign personnel.
