Given Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary’s boast that “short of committing murder, negative publicity sells more seats than positive publicity”, his airline’s deplorable treatment of a family with a severely disabled child en route to a holiday in Portugal should not come as a shock. But one fellow passenger, a medic, was so outraged he is offering to help sue the airline on the family’s behalf.
Belinda Siggers and her partner were due to fly from Stansted last month for a ten-day break with their three children. They had received both verbal and written confirmation that specialist seating would be provided for their ten-year-old daughter, who has gross developmental delay, epilepsy and other disabilities.
