Danish union still hoping for collective agreement after meeting Ryanair (Press release from FPU)

After meeting with Ryanair in London Friday the 20th of February 2015,the Danish trade unions The Flight Personnel Union and The Federation of Employees in the Service Trade are still expecting to enter into a collective agreement. At the meeting, Ryanair was introduced to a proposal for a Danish collective agreement.
The anticipation for entering in a collective agreement with the airline Ryanair is still intact with The Flight Personnel Union (FPU) and The Federation of Employees in the Service Trade after meeting with Ryanair on Friday in London, recounts the FPU Vice President Mr. Anders Mark Jensen.
“We would, indeed, like to conclude a collective agreement with Ryanair, and the first step is dialogue. Therefore, we are very pleased to have had the opportunity to meet,” he says.
Accordingly, the union presented Ryanair for a proposition for a collective agreement, which meets the conditions of the Danish labour market.
“We have seen this meeting as a chance for a proper conversation about the importance of having a Danish collective agreement, when the airline is flying from Danish bases. Consequently, we brought a tangible agreement proposal,” says Mr. John Dybart, President of The Federation of Employees in the Service Trade, of which FPU is an affiliate.
It is, by the way, the first time in many years that Ryanair accepted to meet with a union in Europe.
At the meeting Ryanair did not seem immediately interested in a collective agreement, FPU and The Federation of Employees in the Service Trade inform. The parties’ next meeting will be on 26th February in the Industrial Court in Copenhagen.
However, FPU and The Federation of Employees in the Service Trade are still hoping that the situation will change.
“We will steadily proceed to convince Ryanair of the positive potential of a Danish collective agreement. This is where, we will focus,” says Anders Mark Jensen from FPU.
The court meeting on the 26th February is the first in a row where the Industrial Court will hear the case, unless FPU, The Federation of Employees in the Service Trade and Ryanair conclude a collective agreement before this date.
Ryanair have announced that they will begin flying from a recently established base in Copenhagen Airport on 26th March.
