Kingfisher Airlines staff withdraw strike threat (The Times of India)

MUMBAI: The standoff between Kingfisher Airlines management and employees, agitating over delayed salaries, ended on Tuesday with the protestors accepting the assurance given by the beleaguered carrier’s promoter Vijay Mallya and deciding to withdraw their agitation.

Mallya, who had a meeting with the employees including pilots and engineers late last night, had assured them that their dues would be paid in a staggered manner by April 10.


IAG gets green light to buy Bmi (ABTN.co.uk)

British Airways’ parent company IAG has been given permission to buy Bmi from Lufthansa by the European Commission.

European competition commissioner Joaquin Almunia today cleared the £172.5 million purchase despite a last-ditch effort by Virgin Atlantic boss Richard Branson to stop the deal. But IAG has had to give up 14 slots from Heathrow to get the deal approved.
